
Meet Author Sungju Lee
MOUNT OLIVE- Sungju Lee, author of Every Falling Star, will be a guest at the University of Mount Olive (UMO) on Monday, November 4, at 4 PM in the Hennessee Room of the Holmes and Lois K. Murphy Center
Every Falling Star: The True Story of How I Survived and Escaped North Korea is the UMO Common Read Selection for Fall 2019. It tells the true story of author Sungju Lee and his childhood growing up in Communist North Korea. Lee’s family is well-to-do military family living in the capital city of Pyongyang when is father commits an unknown offense and is forced to move the family to a remote village. In their new home, they experience hardship, poverty, and famine. Eventually each of the parents leave Sungju in search of food. The story shares his experience learning to navigate and eventually escape North Korea.
