MOC’s 60th Summer Commencement Set for August 24th
MOUNT OLIVE – University of Mount Olive will graduate approximately 275 students at its summer commencement on Saturday, August 24th. Graduation exercises are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in the George and Annie Dail Kornegay Arena.
Steve Keen will be the commencement speaker. Keen is a Wayne County commissioner and the founder and owner of Adair LLC, a real estate development group specializing in planning and logistics. He is also a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer of the U.S. Coast Guard who owns and operates Atlantic Coast Deliveries, a yacht delivery company.
Over the course of 32 years as a business owner, Keen has created thousands of jobs and taken a leadership role in growing Wayne County’s economy. He is a member of the Wayne County Development Alliance and served on the Wayne County Planning Board for nine years. Keen also serves on the local board of directors of The Little Bank, and is a member of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.
The Reverend Donald Ribeiro, M.D. will be the worship speaker. Ribeiro is a Greene County physician, University of Mount Olive Trustee and ordained Free Will Baptist minister. In 2011, he was named NC Family Physician of the Year. Ribeiro has been a member of the College’s Board of Trustees since 1989. He is also the pastor of Ormondsville Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Ribeiro earned his B.S. degree in biochemistry from East Carolina University and his M.D. degree from ECU’s School of Medicine. He is married to Karen Ribeiro. They have three children: Jessica, Sarah and Joshua.
