Mount Olive College Prepares for Homecoming Weekend

MOUNT OLIVE- University of Mount Olive Homecoming 2011 is fast approaching and anticipation is growing on campus!  The 46th Annual Pickle Classic tournament and Homecoming Weekend is set for November 18-19. The weekend will be filled with events for the community and students.
The weekend will include a variety of new activities sprinkled with some familiar favorite traditions.  The weekend’s activities kick off, Friday, November 18, with The 15th Annual Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament at Southern Wayne Country Club.  Registration for the tournament is at 11:30 AM and Tee off is at 12:15 PM.  Golf tournament registration fee is $60 per player.  A men’s basketball game against Brevard College will be in Kornegay Arena at 7:30 PM.
On Saturday, November 19, the women’s basketball team will compete against Chowan at 12:00 Noon in Kornegay Arena.  The University of Mount Olive Athletics Hall of Fame will have an induction ceremony and dessert reception at 3:00 PM in Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.  There will be an Alumni Pre-Game Pig Pickin’ competition among cook-off teams held at 5:30 PM under the Hospitality Tent.  Teams battling for the tastiest pig include students, alumni, and friends.  BBQ plates will be $10.  A Fan Zone area will be setup with face painting, kettle corn, games and a DJ.  The men’s basketball team will compete against Virginia State at 7:30 PM.  The homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime.
