Mount Olive Concert Choir to Present Spring Performance

Mount Olive Concert ChoirMOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive Concert Choir is presenting its spring concert on Thursday, April 25th at 7:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall, located at 207 Wooten Street in Mount Olive.

The concert, entitled “An American Patchwork Quilt,” will feature sacred and secular American music of three centuries, ranging from folk music to classical.  Selections will include childhood favorites like “Home on the Range,” and the frontier hymn “I Will Arise,” as well as Randall Thompson’s sacred anthem, “The Last Words of David.”  Director of Choruses Durward McDonell says, “Any concert of American music can only scratch the surface of our rich and deep musical heritage, but each audience member will find songs in this concert that are near and dear to them, as well as wonderful songs that will become new favorites.  I hope to see a great audience on the twenty-fifth of April!  Our students have worked really hard and intelligently on this music, and I hope the Mount Olive community will show its support!”

The concert is free to the public; the doors will open at 7:00 p.m.
