Mount Olive Softball Receives A Power Upgrade To Program
University of Mount Olive Softball program officially added the addition of an outdoor hitting facility Saturday March 19, as the Ribbon was cut opening the cages. The Power Batting Cage is named after the Power family.
Through fundraising efforts and a donation by Lori and Russell Power, parents of Kristin and Lauren Power, the cages were constructed before the start of the 2016 season.
Kristin Power is a member of the softball and women’s soccer programs and Lauren was a four year member of the women’s soccer team.
“We were so thankful for the opportunities given to both of our girls and we were looking for a way to give back and help” said Lori Power on how the Power family became involved in the batting cage building process.
Vice-President of Athletics, Jeff Eisen spoke about the improvements to the softball program.
“It has been great to see the improvements to the softball field over the years, and the addition of the batting cage is another step in our efforts to provide the best possible facilities for our teams.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony was held after a two-run walk-off home run by Savannah Becker to defeat Belmont Abbey 4-2 in extra innings.
