New Hanover  County Student Receives Award at the University of Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE – A New Hanover  County student was recognized for his achievements at the University of Mount Olive’s Annual Awards Ceremony.

Richard Kirkpatrick of Wilmington received the The Gary F. Barefoot Sacred Music Award. Kirkpatrick is a senior music  major.  This award is sponsored through the generosity of Dr. Thomas R. Morris in honor of Gary F. Barefoot. The award is given to a Sacred Music Major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher that demonstrates a strong commitment to music ministry. The student should demonstrate quality musicianship and character through active involvement in activities on campus that present music in a spiritual setting, including chapel services, club events, camps and outreach events off campus. The student should either be graduating, or he/she should be no more than one year from graduating.
