Rose Selected as University of Mount Olive Adjunct Instructor of the Year

MOUNT OLIVE- Janet F. Rose of Calypso received the 2019 Adjunct Instructor of the Year Award at the University of Mount Olive. An adjunct instructor in the Department of Education, Rose was recognized for exemplifying devotion above and beyond the classroom.

“I strive to be the best I can be for my students so they can leave UMO as prepared as possible for a rewarding and successful career,” Rose said.  “I am honored to be recognized by my peers and my students”

Rose holds an associate in science degree from the University of Mount Olive, a bachelor’s in elementary education from Barton College, and a master’s degree in elementary education from Campbell University. After a 32-year stent as an elementary educator and an academically/intellectually gifted (AIG) specialist, Rose decided to return to her roots. She began teaching at UMO in 2004.

“Mount Olive was very good to me when I was a student,” she recalled.  “I was offered opportunities and experiences that have shaped my life.  It is very rewarding to now be in the position to ‘give back’ to students at UMO.”

Rose and her husband, Bill, have two adult children, Scott and Beth.
