University of Mount Olive Spring Alumni Reunion Day is April 18

MOUNT OLIVE- The University of Mount Olive 2015 Spring Alumni Reunion Day is set for April 18.  A multitude of fun activities have been planned for alumni to enjoy while they catch up with old friends and relive their years at the University.

Registration is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM in the downstairs atrium of Moye Library. At 10:30 AM members from the class of 1965 are invited to join Rose Raper, former first lady of Mount Olive College from 1954 to 1995, and Gary Barefoot, director of library services emeritus, for coffee and reminiscing about the early years of Mount Olive College. The event will take place in the archives room on the second floor of the Communications Building. A campus tour scheduled to depart from Moye Library at10:30 AM will lead alumni on a guided journey highlighting the growth of the campus.

UMO President and First Lady Philip P. and Mary Kerstetter have invited members from the class of 1965 to a 50th year reunion luncheon to be held at 12 noon on the second floor atrium of the Communications Building.  Each 1965 class member in attendance will be inducted into the Golden Laurel Society for reaching their 50th reunion milestone.

The campus bookstore will be open from 12 to 4:30 PM for the alumni to stop by and purchase new UMO apparel and gifts. A softball game will be held at 2 PM on the Nancy Chapman Cassell Field with the UMO Trojans taking on the Emmanuel College Lions.

Members of the UMO Alumni Board will have their official meeting at 3 PM in the Archives Room of the Communications Building.  A 40th class reunion social honoring the class of 1975 will also be held at 3 PM in the Deacon Jones Student Lounge in Raper Hall.

The annual alumni meeting, which is open to all UMO alumni, is scheduled for 4:30 PM in the Hennessee Room of the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center. The highlight of this gathering will be the alumni awards presentation given to this year’s slate of outstanding alumni!

All alumni are invited to a cookout to celebrate the 25th reunion for the class of 1990.  The event begins at 5:30 PM on Kemp Commons. Afterwards, there will be a “Through the Years” performance by members of the Class of 1975 at 7:30 PM in the newly renovated Hazel Waters Kornegay Assembly Hall.
