Spring Alumni Weekend Set For April 13-15 At Mount Olive College

MOUNT OLIVE- University of Mount Olive is making preparations for their annual spring alumni weekend planned for April 13-15.  Alumni from all years are invited to come back to campus to visit with old friends, to stroll down memory lane or across the campus, and to participate in a variety of events and activities aimed at special interests groups.
For golf enthusiasts, the Recreation and Leisure Studies Golf Tournament will swing into action on Friday, April 13 at Southern Wayne Country Club. Registration will begin at 7:45 AM with an 8:30 AM tee off.  Proceeds from the two-person, super ball tournament will go to the Dr. Sharon Carter Recreation and Leisure Studies Student Scholarship Fund.  The cost for the event is $80 per team.  For more information, contact Burt Lewis at blewis@moc.edu.
Religion majors and theologians are invited to attend “Coffee, Tea and Theology” on Friday, April 13 in the Deacon Jones Student Lounge from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM.  Hosted by the Religion Department, this event will be an opportunity to relax in a coffee-house setting and engage in theological discussion.
On Saturday, April 14, at 1:00 PM there will be a 50th and 25th reunion luncheon hosted by President and Mrs. Philip P. Kerstetter.
The Art and Visual Communications Student Art Show and Reception will be held at 3:30 PM in the Teresa Pelt Grubbs Fine Arts Gallery in Laughinghouse Hall.  At 4:30 PM, there will be various departmental receptions including:  Biological and Physical Science Department, Criminal Justice Department, Honors Program, Phi Beta Lambda, and Free Spirit.  The receptions will be held in W. Burkette and Rose M. Raper Hall.  Alumni will be able to socialize with friends and University of Mount Olive department professors to find out about developments within each department.
At 5:00 PM there will be an Alumni Awards and Reunion Recognition program held in Southern Bank Auditorium in Raper Hall.  Awards to be given will include the Young Alumni of the Year, Alumni Business Associate of the Year, Alumni Hall of Fame and the Distinguished Alumni of the Year.
At 6:15 PM in the Moye Library atrium, there will be an Hors d’oeuvres reception and a meet and greet with President and Mrs. Philip P. Kerstetter and alumni.  At 7:30 PM the 15th Anniversary Free Spirit Concert will be held in the Southern Bank Auditorium in Raper Hall.  The concert will feature current and former Free Spirit members.
On Sunday, an alumni worship service will begin at 10:30 AM in Rodgers Chapel followed by a buffet lunch in the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center at 11:30 AM.  The cost for the buffet is $7.50.
