SureFire to Perform at University of Mount Olive on March 20

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive Recital Series presents SureFire on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 7:30 PM in Southern Bank Auditorium.

Surefire was formed in December of 2007 and is based out of Boone, NC. Heavily influenced by the pioneers of bluegrass music, this band provides a traditional, hard-driving experience.

Robby Norris, at age 16, provides mandolin and baritone vocals for the band. Nineteen-year-old John Bryan plays rhythm guitar and sings tenor and high lead vocals.  Picking the banjo and singing the majority of the lead is 21-year-old Tom Isaacs. Tim Norris plays bass for all of SureFire’s recordings and tours with the band part-time.

“SureFire is a unique musical group,” said Dr. Alan Armstrong, Music Department Chair. “We try to have a variety of styles of music each year for the recital series, and we think everyone will enjoy the folk feeling of the band.”

University of Mount Olive hosts four Recital Series concerts each year, offering a variety of artists such as concert pianists, string quartets, jazz ensembles, opera singers, and chamber music ensembles.

Tickets for this event are $10 and the public is invited to attend. For more information, contact Stuart Burnham at 919-658-7166 or sburnham@moc.edu.
