UMO Organizations Sponsor Successful Book Drive for Local Students

MOUNT OLIVE – Learning to read or trying to improve reading skills can be a challenge, especially without access to books, and any students don’t have books at home.  Research has shown that children who have level appropriate books at home are likely to become good readers.

Members of the University of Mount Olive Prospective Teachers’ Association (PTA), Future Educators Association (FEA), and Pi Lambda Theta (PLT) recently gathered at Carver Elementary School and Mount Olive Middle School to give the gift of reading.  The organizations conducted a book drive collecting new and gently used books for children who may not have books at home.
