University of Mount Olive Plans Visit to First Friday Gallery Walk
MOUNT OLIVE – University of Mount Olive students, alumni, staff and faculty are invited to visit the downtown Raleigh First Friday Gallery Walk at 7 p.m. on September 7. The group will meet in front of the Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh for an exciting evening of art. University of Mount Olive graduate and graphic designer Matt Stevens will act as the guide.
“I am very excited about participating in an event like the First Friday Gallery Walk,” said Hope Fields, director of Alumni Relations. “This will create a setting for faculty, staff, students, and alumni to interact with and learn from each other. There are alumni who graduated from the art department coming and some current art students, so it will be great to allow them to glean from one another. Also, as someone interested in the arts, it will be an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of visual art while having a good time with my fellow alumni.”
First Friday is held by downtown Raleigh to celebrate its rich artistic community with a free self-guided gallery walk. The tour includes an impressive number of galleries, venues, museums, restaurants and studios in the vicinity that stay open late the first Friday of every month, so visitors and locals can explore Raleigh on their own time.
The event is free. For more information please contact Hope Fields at (919) 658-7714 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
