University of Mount Olive Students Attend NCRTA

MOUNT OLIVE – University of Mount Olive recreational therapy majors Cindy Hartsfield of Goldsboro, Sarah Dodson of Jacksonville, Crystal Bennett of Goldsboro and Allison Hinson of Clinton attended the North Carolina Recreational Therapy Association 2012 Annual Conference in Hickory, North Carolina with Dr. Janet Albers, assistant professor of recreation and leisure studies.
The purpose of the NCRTA Conference is to create an opportunity for recreational therapy students, professionals, educators and others to enhance their knowledge, network and share ideas. During the conference, the students attended sessions along with recreational therapy practitioners to learn about the latest trends, issues and techniques in the field.
Hinson was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the NCRTA as student representative. She was sworn into service at the conference. This is the first time a University of Mount Olive student has been elected to this position, so it was a very prestigious recognition.
As a past NCRTA Board member herself, Dr. Albers stated, “I am very proud of Allison. In this role she will gain so much knowledge about the profession and will represent University of Mount Olive well.”
