Blackwell Hired as Executive Associate to the President

MOUNT OLIVE- John Blackwell joins University of Mount Olive as Executive Associate to the President.
Blackwell, who has relocated to Mount Olive, comes to the College after serving seven years as Dean of the Chapel at Kansas Wesleyan University and four years as Dean of the San Diego School of Christian Studies and Minister of Discipleship at First United Methodist Church in San Diego.
Blackwell and his wife, Nancy, have two adult children, Jaime and Davie, a daughter-in-law, Chynnene, along with three bulldog.  Blackwell’s interests include reading, writing (he is the author of seven books, plus journal articles), piano and travel.  In 2009, Blackwell delivered the commencement address at University of Mount Olive.
“I am very impressed with University of Mount Olive,” says Blackwell.  “I believe that transformation through higher education is essential for our development as children of God.”  Blackwell hopes to help University of Mount Olive blend strong academics, faith and learning, and church relations.
