University of Mount Olive Chamber Choir to Perform Spring Concert

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive Chamber Choir will perform its Spring Concert on April 15, 2010 at 7:00 PM in the Original Free Will Baptist Historical Room located in the Communications Building. The concert is entitled “An American Songbook: Songs of War and Patriotism.”

The Chamber Choir will present traditional folk tunes such as “Danny Boy” and “Shenandoah,” famous patriotic tributes and Civil War era pieces, as well as an arrangement of the Beatles’ “Imagine.”

Dr. Melanie Crump, Director of the University of Mount Olive Chamber Choir, says, “Each piece is indirectly connected to documentaries and movies related to the Civil War, but not necessarily written during this era. I believe the audience can expect to recollect songs from an earlier time, especially as they enjoy the concert in the Original Free Will Baptist Historical Room.”

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr.Crump at 919-658-7184 or email mcrump@moc.edu.
