Rock the Town Concert to be Held at University of Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE – The 2nd annual Rock the Town concert featuring the Canadian Christian band DownHere will be held April 17, 2010 at 6:00 PM.  The concert will take place at Kemp Commons in front of Rodgers Chapel.

In 2008, DownHere was awarded a Dove Award nomination for New Artist of the Year and two subsequent Juno Awards for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year and Best Gospel Album.  They were also given Canadian Gospel Music Association Covenant Awards for Rock Album of the Year and Rock Song of the Year and a Dove Award for Modern Rock Recorded Song of the Year.

“Rock the Town is a great way for the community to see what and how University of Mount Olive Campus Ministries works,” said Alex Sikes, one of several Campus Ministries student leaders.  “We are excited about the opportunity to share with the community in praising God.”

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are however encouraged to bring a canned food item, which will be donated to Helping Hands Ministry.
