MOUNT OLIVE- Sergeant Hopper and her K9 “Bear” along with Deputy Goodison and his K9 “Viper” from the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, came to the campus to demonstrate their work to members of the UMO Student Society, Law & Justice Association.

The officers and their K9s demonstrated how the dogs are used in drug detection, article location, and offender apprehension.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration, asking questions and engaging with the officers throughout the event.

Afterward, SLJA members presented the officers with UMO coffee mugs, ink pens, a thank you card, and a 10lb box of dog treats.

This was the third year in a row that members of the CCSO’s K9 Unit have visited UMO to conduct demonstrations, and they look forward to returning next year.
